Name of Product: Mountain Bicycles

 

Hazard: The carbon seat post originally sold with the bicycle can crack and break, posing injury and fall hazards to the rider.

 

Remedy: Replace

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact their local Felt Bicycles dealer for a free inspection and seat post replacement.

Units: 645

 

Description: This recall involves all model year 2015 Felt Double Double 30, NINEe 20 and Edict 1 mountain bicycles. The bicycles were sold with carbon fiber seat posts. The model name is printed on the top tube of the bicycles. The Felt logo is on the down tube of the Double Double 30 and the NINEe20, and on the top tube of the Edict 1. The Double Double 30 was sold in the color blue. The NINEe 20 was sold in a gray and orange color scheme. The Edict 1 was sold in a black and blue color scheme.

 

Incidents/Injuries: Felt has received 10 reports of the seat post cracking. No injuries have been reported.

 

Sold by: Bicycle specialty stores nationwide from August 2014 through September 2015 for between $2,000 and $5,500.

Name of Product: Fireworks Fountains

 

Hazard: The rear plug of the candle can dislodge while lit, posing burn and fire hazards to the user if the user is holding the device.

 

Remedy: Refund

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fireworks and contact North Central Industries for a full refund.

Description: This recall involves all mammoth Great Grizzly brand California Candles. The recalled candles are hand-held fireworks fountains that make crackling noises and display flowering tulips, blue pearls and gold showers. Each candle is approximately 2 inches in diameter and 30 inches long. The candles were sold in packs of three. One candle is labeled with the name "Glow Beam," one has the name "Dazzling Diamonds" and one has the name "Touch of Sparkle.” Each candle has the Great Grizzly logo on the label near the beginning of the candle name.

 

Incidents/Injuries: North Central Industries has received six reports of a candle's rear plug dislodging while the firework was lit, resulting in burn injuries to the person holding the device. No reports of property damage have been received.

New CDC estimates underscore the need to increase awareness of a daily pill that can prevent HIV infection Approximately 1 in 4 gay, bisexual men; 1 in 5 people who inject drugs; and 1 in 200 heterosexuals should be counseled about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)   A new Vital Signs report published today estimates that 25 percent of sexually active gay and bisexual adult men, nearly 20 percent of adults who inject drugs, and less than 1 percent of heterosexually active adults are at substantial risk for HIV infection and should be counseled about PrEP, a daily pill for HIV prevention. PrEP for HIV prevention was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2012. When taken daily, it can reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV by more than 90 percent. Daily PrEP can also reduce the risk of HIV infection among people who inject drugs by more than 70 percent. However, according to recent studies, some primary health care providers have never heard of PrEP. Increasing awareness of PrEP and counseling for those at substantial risk for HIV infection is critical to realizing the full prevention potential of PrEP. “PrEP isn’t reaching many people who could benefit from it, and many providers remain unaware of its promise,” said CDC Director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H. “With about 40,000 HIV infections newly diagnosed each year in the U.S., we need to use all available prevention strategies.” PrEP is one essential component in the nation’s high-impact prevention strategy While PrEP can fill a critical gap in America’s prevention efforts, all available HIV prevention strategies must be used to have the greatest impact on the epidemic. These include treatment to suppress the virus among people living with HIV; correct and consistent use of condoms; reducing risk behaviors; and ensuring people who inject drugs have access to sterile injection equipment from a reliable source. PrEP is one of four focus areas in the July 2015 Update to the National HIV/AIDS Prevention Strategy. Other key elements of the Strategy and CDC’s high-impact prevention approach are: • Widespread HIV testing and linkage to care that enables early treatment; • Broad support for people living with HIV to remain engaged in comprehensive care, including support for treatment adherence; • And universal viral suppression.   Vital Signs is a CDC report that appears on the first Tuesday of the month as part of the CDC journal Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, or MMWR. The report provides the latest data and information on key health indicators. These are cancer prevention, obesity, tobacco use, motor vehicle passenger safety, prescription drug overdose, HIV/AIDS, alcohol use, healthcare-associated infections, cardiovascular health, teen pregnancy, and food safety.   Vital Signs is a monthly report that appears as part of the CDC journal, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Hazard: An internal switching mechanism can become stuck in the "on" position and overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

Description: This recall involves Drill Master 18-volt cordless drills with item number 68239 and item number 68287. The drills are black with a red switch and were sold with an 18 volt rechargeable battery pack. Item number 68239 was sold individually and item number 68287 was sold as part of a kit, which included a flashlight. The flashlight is not included in the recall. The item number is located on a black label on the right side of the drill, just beneath the serial number. Drills with item number 69651 and item number 69652 are not included in the recall.

 

Incidents/Injuries: Harbor Freight Tools has received 25 reports of the drill switch overheating, including six reports of burns to the hands and fingers, and five reports of minor property damage.

 

Sold at: Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide, Harbor Freight Tools catalog, and online at www.harborfreight.com between May 2011 and September 2015 for about $35 for item number 68239 and $46 for item number 68287.
