The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) and local health departments are conducting an investigation of a cluster of seven E. coli O157 infections. There have been no deaths, although three of the seven cases have been hospitalized. A potential association exists with the consumption of unpasteurized Baugher's apple cider.

News Alert: Pelosi Says She Wants to Stay On as House Democratic Leader

Breaking News Alert
The New York Times
Fri, November 05, 2010 -- 1:43 PM ET
-----

Speaker Nancy Pelosi Will Seek to Remain Head of the House Democratic Caucus, Aides Say

Despite steep losses for her party in Tuesday's elections,
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said on Friday that
she would run to remain the leader of the House Democrats,
even as some of her colleagues urged her to step down.

In a letter to her caucus, Ms. Pelosi, who engineered the
Democratic takeover of the House in 2006 but became a
favorite target of Republicans, said that many of the
remaining House Democrats had encouraged her to try to stay
on as the leader after the new Republican majority replaces
her as Speaker -- an unusual move in light of the rebuke her
party received at the polls.

"Based on those discussions, and driven by the urgency of
protecting health care reform, Wall Street reform, and Social
Security and Medicare, I have decided to run," Ms. Pelosi
wrote in her letter.

News Alert: U.S. Economy Added 151,000 Jobs in October

Breaking News Alert
The New York Times
Fri, November 05, 2010 -- 8:34 AM ET
-----

U.S. Economy Added 151,000 Jobs in October; Unemployment Rate Steady at 9.6%

The United States economy added 151,000 jobs in October, a
welcome change after four months of job losses but still not
enough to make a significant dent in unemployment, which
remained at 9.6 percent.

Private companies have been slowly expanding their payrolls
throughout 2010, according to a Labor Department report
released Friday. This private job growth had been overwhelmed
by the elimination of temporary decennial Census jobs and
state and local government jobs during the summer and early
fall, until October.

The report also offered revised figures for August and
September that showed substantially lower job losses for
those months than previously reported.

Photo of clouds from an airplane over Michigan.

As discussions about climate change continue, one critical factor about this phenomenon has remained largely unknown to the public: the important but enigmatic role of clouds in climate change. The role of clouds is important because at any given time about 70 percent of the Earth is covered by clouds. The role of clouds is enigmatic because clouds can exert opposing forces: Some types of clouds help cool the Earth and some types of clouds help warm it. Which effect will win ...
