Appeeling Fruit Inc. in Dauberville, Penn. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of consumer packages of fresh sliced apples with Best-if-Used-by dates of 09/14/15 and 09/21/15, due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting health care professionals and patients of a voluntary recall of all non-expired drug products produced for sterile use and distributed nationwide by Medistat RX, LLC, in Foley, Alabama, due to possible contamination. The recalled products were distributed between November 1, 2014, and September 3, 2015.

It was confirmed on 09/10/15 that Anhing Corporation issued a press release for their recall of ABC Cookies Banh Chu due to elevated levels of lead since serving size was not accurate on the label (please see email below). The firm’s press release was sent to a AP on 08/14/15. Further label review conducted by the firm also showed the following additional labeling errors; not declaring flour as wheat flour and label stating vegetable oil as ingredient when it is actually highly refined coconut oil.

The Kraft Heinz Company is expanding the voluntary recall of select code dates and manufacturing codes of individually-wrapped American slices due to the possibility that a thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could potentially cause a choking hazard.

Recall Summary

 

Name of Product: VYSSA SPELEVINK crib mattresses

 

Hazard: The crib mattresses fail to meet the federal open flame standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard.

 

Remedy: Refund

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled crib mattresses and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund. Mattresses that were given in an exchange to consumers for their VYSSA SPELEVINK mattresses in the two previous recalls are included in this recall program.

Units: About 38,400 (VYSSA SPELEVINK crib mattresses were previously recalled in January 2015 and again in May 2015 for entrapment hazards.) 

 

Description: This recall involves IKEA VYSSA SPELEVINK crib mattresses. The recalled mattresses are 52 inches long and 27 1/2 inches wide.  The crib mattresses are white with a blue piping around the edge and have an identification label attached to the mattress cover has the date of manufacture in Month-DD-YY format or YY-W format and the VYSSA SPELEVINK model name.  Mattresses made after July 2007 also have a federal tag at the foot of the mattress.

Sold exclusively at: IKEA stores nationwide and online at www.ikea-usa.com from October 2000 through May 2014 for about $100.

Name of Product: LED Downlights for Recessed Cans

 

Hazard: The internal wiring in the LED downlights can contact the downlight’s metal trim, posing a shock hazard to consumers.

 

Remedy: Replace

Consumers should immediately contact TCP to receive a free replacement lamp with installation instructions. Consumers should not touch the lamp while it is powered.

Description: This recall involves Connected by TCP 5-inch and 6-inch LED Downlight retrofits for recessed cans. These replacement downlights are white and produce a soft white (2700 Kelvin) or bright white (5000 Kelvin) color temperature. Affected units have item number “CD611LC” and the date code printed directly on the black base of the lamp. Consumers will need to shut off power to the lights and disengage the lamp to check the item number and date code. “Connected automated home lighting system” is printed on the product packaging, along with the item number, UPC code and date code.
