U.S. Economy Added 227,000 Jobs in February; Unemployment Rate Stays 8.3%
In another sign of a strengthening recovery, the United States added 227,000 net jobs in February, the third straight month of gains over 200,000, the Labor Department reported Friday. The unemployment rate remained 8.3 percent.
Revisions also showed stronger gains in December and January than previously reported.
The job growth numbers could help President Obama's case to voters that his economic policies are working.
The report followed a flurry of positive economic reports about the American economy, including a continued rise in consumer confidence, business plans to hire more workers this year and growing strength in the manufacturing sector.

Umbro Boys' Jackets with Drawstrings Recalled; Waist Drawstrings Pose Entrapment Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Ross Stores
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Umbro Boys' outerwear jackets
Units: About 240
Manufacturer: Hong Kong Genexy Group Co. Ltd., of Hong Kong
Distributor: Umbro USA, of Beaverton, Ore.
Hazard: The boys' jacket has a retractable elastic drawstring at the waist with a toggle that could become snagged or caught in small spaces or doorways, which poses an entrapment hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) about drawstrings in children's upper outerwear. In 1997, those guidelines were incorporated into a voluntary standard. Then in July 2011, based on the guidelines and voluntary standard, CPSC issued a federal regulation. CPSC's actions demonstrate a commitment to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on neck and waist drawstrings in upper outerwear, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported
Description: This recall involves boys' nylon jackets sold in sizes medium to extra large that can fit children through size 14. "Umbro" is printed on the front upper right side of the jackets. The bottom of the jacket has a drawstring with toggles. The jackets were sold in five color combinations: black, black/royal, black/Tabasco, black/cedar, and navy.

Santorum Wins Tennessee, Networks Report
Rick Santorum easily defeated Mitt Romney on Tuesday in Tennessee, according to several news networks, a southern victory that will help him make the case for continuing to Mr. Romney for the Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. Santorum's victory over Mr. Romney in the state was reported by CNN and NBC.
Mr. Santorum's campaign had focused much of its attention in the past week on Ohio. But with Mr. Romney all-but certain to capture several other states, Mr. Santorum had also pushed hard for wins in the South.

Romney Wins Virginia, A.P. Reports
Mitt Romney won the largely uncontested Virginia primary on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
The victory was largely expected. Mr. Romney faced only Ron Paul in Virginia because Mr. Gingrich and Rick Santorum failed to submit enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Both men had joined Rick Perry, who also failed to qualify for the ballot in Virginia before dropping out of the race, in challenging the decision to keep their names off. But the courts rejected their efforts. A brief legislative effort to rewrite the rules in the state also quickly stalled.

Mr. Gingrich had bet his campaign on winning in Georgia, which he represented for years in Congress. The former House speaker campaigned for several days in the state and had hinted that it was a must-win for him to continue in the presidential contest.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. The CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard or can injure children. The CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products - such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household chemicals - contributed significantly to the 30 percent decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products over the past 30 years.
To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury, visit www.saferproducts.gov, or contact CPSC's Hotline at info@cpsc.gov, (800) 638-2772 or CPSC's teletypewriter at (800) 638-8270. To join a CPSC e-mail subscription list, please go to https://www.cpsc.gov/cpsclist.aspx. Consumers can obtain recall and general safety information by logging on to CPSC's Web site at www.cpsc.gov.
