Media Statement   Friday, July 15, 2016                                                                                                                                    Contact: CDC Media Relations 404-639-3286                                              First female-to-male sexual transmission of Zika virus infection reported in New York City   The New York City report of female-to-male sexual transmission of Zika virus infection is the first documented case of sexual transmission of Zika from a woman to her sex partner and adds to the growing body of knowledge about the sexual transmission of Zika. All previously reported cases of sexually transmitted Zika virus infection have been spread from men to their sex partners.   CDC recommends that all pregnant women who have a sex partner who has traveled to or resides in an area with Zika use barrier methods every time they have sex or they should not have sex during the pregnancy. Kerry Inc. of Beloit, WI is recalling two lots of Golden Dipt Jalapeno Breader that were sold to foodservice distributors because one of our suppliers recalled an ingredient used in our mix for the potential presence of E. coli O121. Kerry Inc. was notified by our supplier that two of their products, a red bell pepper nugget and a jalapeno nugget, were made with a small percentage of affected flour which was recalled by General Mills because it may be contaminated with E. coli O121.

CDC Media Statement: CDC Models Risk of Zika Virus Importation Resulting from Travel to the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games

MEDIA STATEMENT   Wednesday, July 13, 2016                                                                                                                                                     Contact: CDC Media Relations 404-639-3286                                                    CDC Models Risk of Zika Virus Importation Resulting from Travel to the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games   According to the Brazilian Tourism Board, approximately 350,000 – 500,000 international visitors and athletes from 207 countries are expected to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Games). This travel volume represents a very small fraction – less than 0.25% – of the total estimated 2015 travel volume to Zika-affected countries. Visitors to the Games are expected to have a low probability of mosquito-borne Zika infections because the Games will occur during the winter season in Rio de Janeiro (August 5-21 and September 7-18, respectively) when the cooler and drier weather typically reduces mosquito populations. CDC conducted a risk analysis to predict those countries at risk for Zika virus importation exclusively attributable to the Games.   Key Points: Whereas all countries are at risk for travel-associated exportation of Zika virus, CDC estimated Chad, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Yemen as having unique risk attributable to their travel for the Games. These four countries do not have substantial travel to any country with local Zika virus transmission, except for their participation in the Games, and have environmental conditions and population susceptibility to sustain mosquito-borne transmission of Zika virus. Prevention recommendations for athletes and all other visitors to the Games include that: Pregnant women should not travel to the Games. All visitors should take steps to prevent mosquito bites, both during travel and for 3 weeks after returning home. Recall Summary

 

Name of Product: Marquesa dressers and nightstands

 

Hazard: The recalled dressers are unstable if they are not properly anchored to the wall, posing a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in death or injuries to children.

 

Remedy: Repair

Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled dressers and nightstands that are not properly anchored to the wall and place them into an area that children cannot access. Contact the store where purchased or Bernhardt for a free counterweight repair kit including a wall anchor. Bernhardt is offering a free in-home installation of the counterweight repair kit with a wall anchor.

Description: This recall involves Marquesa mirrored glass front dressers with model number 359-044 and Marquesa mirrored glass front nightstands with model number 359-234.  Both models have a gray cashmere finish and mirrored glass drawer fronts with metal overlays.  The series and style numbers are printed on a white label on the back of the product. The first three characters of the number will be 359 followed by the style number.  Recalled products include:
