On August 17, 2012, Protica Inc. of Whitehall, PA had undertaken a voluntary product withdrawal of four products including Body Choice "Protein Shots", Nutritional Resources "Protein Wave", ProBalance "Protein to Go French Vanilla Latte" and "Protein to Go Milk Chocolate Shake" because they have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has historically offered health information for the Spanish audience through the CDC en Español website. In order to reach a broader audience, Facebook and Twitter profiles were launched in early 2011. Since their inception, the number of fans and followers has continued to increase, as well as the type of health topics shared. Along with Features, Vital Signs and outbreak information, CDC's Spanish social media channels have been utilized to promote the work of other federal agencies such as AHRQ's campaign featuring a vidoenovela series on diabetes awareness, USA.gov's Help for Difficult Financial Times and National HIV Testing campaigns. In order to increase engagement with followers, a weekly survey has been conducted to gather information on fan's interest in cancer information, resources and their interest in cancer information on CDC en Español.
Help us promote these social media channels to your public health partners to ensure that important health and safety information is made available to the Spanish audience.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: CareBears(tm) Pacifiers

Units: About 119,000

Importer: IDM Group LLC, of New York

Manufacturer: Yi Wu Jiangyi Plastic Co., of China

Hazard: The pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards. The nipples can separate from the base, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The pacifiers and the clip attachment have CareBear figures and a "TCFC" copyright mark on them. The nipple is made of silicone.

Sold at: Various discount and dollar stores, Walmart Puerto Rico, children's apparel stores and Consolidated Stores nationwide from October 2009 through June 2012 for about $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled pacifiers away from infants and contact IDM Group LLC for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.

Zest Garden Recalls Wilson & Fisher Bistro Sets Due to Fall Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Big Lots Stores

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: Wilson & Fisher White Cast Bistro Table and Chairs Set

Units: About 22,500

Retailer: Big Lots, of Columbus, Ohio

Importer: Zest Garden, of Ontario, Calif.

Hazard: The chairs can break during normal use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Zest Garden has received five reports of chairs breaking, including three reports of injuries.

Description: This recall involves three-piece patio sets sold in a white, cut-out rose pattern. The set consists of a table and two chairs made of cast iron and aluminum. The table is about 26 inches high and measures about 24 inches in diameter. Each chair is about 33 inches high with an oval-shaped seat that measures about 19 inches long and about 16 inches wide. The item number is XG-1015-23. The product measurements, the item number and "Wilson & Fisher White Cast Bistro Set" and "Made in China" are printed on labels located on the product's packaging.

Sold exclusively at: Big Lots stores nationwide from November 2011 to May 2012 for about $100.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the set and return it to any Big Lots store for a full refund.
