Obama Asks for 2-Year Extension for Robert S. Mueller III as F.B.I. Director
President Obama is asking Congress for legislation to extend
for two years the 10-year term of the F.B.I. director, Robert
S. Mueller III, the White House announced on Thursday.
While it is unclear how Congress would respond, Mr. Mueller
enjoys widespread bipartisan support, and Mr. Obama's request
is likely to get deference. The announcement comes after Vice
President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Attorney General Eric H.
Holder have been conducting a high-level search for a
replacement.
