Romney Wins Virginia, A.P. Reports
Mitt Romney won the largely uncontested Virginia primary on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
The victory was largely expected. Mr. Romney faced only Ron Paul in Virginia because Mr. Gingrich and Rick Santorum failed to submit enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Both men had joined Rick Perry, who also failed to qualify for the ballot in Virginia before dropping out of the race, in challenging the decision to keep their names off. But the courts rejected their efforts. A brief legislative effort to rewrite the rules in the state also quickly stalled.
