The Marines are assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. African Lion is a bilateral training exercise in which the 24th MEU partners with the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces to conduct a variety of training events and build partnerships between each nation's militaries.
