U.S. Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, receives a tour of the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines, June 4, 2012. The cemetery contains the largest number of graves of U.S. military dead from World War II, a total of 17,201, most of whom lost their lives in operations in New Guinea and the Philippines.
