The State of New Jersey and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are committed to providing the most relevant information to survivors of Hurricane Sandy. We will periodically email you with resources and news on the recovery. Please do not reply to this email. FEMA DISASTER ASSISTANCE NOT APPROVED? DON’T GIVE UP!
A determination letter for FEMA assistance that doesn’t begin with “You’re approved” may simply mean that more information or documentation is required. Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-FEMA if you have questions. And you can always appeal if you believe FEMA got it wrong. See the news release for details.
DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS: DON’T PHONE
N.J. unemployment insurance office phone systems are busy! For improved service, file your disaster unemployment insurance claim online at NJuifile.net. Benefits are paid faster to those who certify on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. via the internet.
DRCs/ BRCs NOW CLOSED SUNDAYS
All FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers and U.S. Small Business Administration Business Recovery Centers in N.J. are now CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. To find the nearest Disaster Recovery Center, go to FEMA.gov/DRCLocator, or text “DRC” and your zip code to 43362
