America's Commitment to Volunteerism and Service

President George H.W. Bush built a legacy of service during his time as president — laying the foundation for AmeriCorps and other national service organizations, and conferring 1,020 Daily Point of Light Awards, given to recognize volunteer service at home and abroad.

Yesterday, President George H.W. Bush joined President Obama here at the White House to present the 5,000th Point of Light award.
