Matthew D. Blanchard provides aerial security from inside a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter over Helmand province, Afghanistan, Oct. 31, 2013. Blanchard is a crew chief assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462. The unit supported Marines assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment during an interdiction operation.
