A convoy of U.S. vehicles evades a simulated improvised explosive device, or roadside bomb, during a combined arms live-fire training exercise in Laghman province, Afghanistan, May 13, 2015. The soldiers are assigned to the 101st Airborne Division's 3rd Brigade Comabt Team. Train, Advise, Assist Command East conducted the exercise to demonstrate opportunities for the Afghan soldiers to plan, manage and conduct combined arms training on their ranges.

An airman directs another airman operating a skid steer to clear debris from yards and roads during tornado recovery efforts in Delmont, S.D., May 12, 2015. The airmen are assigned to the South Dakota National Guard's 114th Civil Engineer Squadron, which assisted after the tornado struck May 11, 2015. Twenty-five members of the unit were activated to assist with removing debris in the public area.
