“The recall of 1.3 million bikes with quick release levers is a prime example of how we collaborate with industry for the good of the consumer. At CPSC, we understand that consumers do not want safety information fed to them in a piecemeal fashion. Instead of having 13 separate recalls announced sporadically over weeks or even months, we are making one umbrella announcement that covers all of the key companies.  This is good for consumers and I urge affected riders to waste no time in requesting the free replacement quick release lever.  The Bicycle Product Suppliers Association did a great job of organizing this recall with their members, and our fellow regulators in Canada and Mexico worked in close coordination with us. To make sure that this recall, which spans our continent, prevents anyone else from crashing their bike, we need consumers to take action—now.”
