WEAPONS TEST 09/24/2012 08:50 PM CDT The forward deployed Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens fires its Phalanx close-in weapons system during a weapons test while underway in the Pacific Ocean, Sept. 6, 2012. Cowpens is part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the U.S. Navy's only forward deployed carrier strike group based out of Yokosuka, Japan and is currently conducting a routine Western Pacific patrol.
