PetSmart Recalls Fish Bowls Due to Laceration Hazard

Recall Summary

 

Name of product: Glass fish bowls

 

Hazard: The glass fish bowls can crack, shatter or break during normal handling, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

 

Remedy: Refund

Recall Details

 

Units: About 10,200

 

Description: This recall involves the 1.75 gallon glass fish bowl that is shaped like a brandy snifter. These fish bowls were sold under the Great Choice or Top Fin brand names with SKU number 5140161 and UPC code 737257187092. The SKU and UPC codes are printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the fish bowl.

 

Incidents/Injuries: PetSmart has received 10 reports of the glass fish bowl breaking during normal use, including five reports of cuts to fingers and a knee. Four of the cuts required stitches. One required surgery for a lacerated tendon in a consume����s finger.

 

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the fish bowl and return it to any PetSmart store for a full refund.

Sold exclusively at: PetSmart stores nationwide from February 2013 through September 2013 for about $20.

Runway Global Recalls Sugarfly Gir����� Coats; Waist Drawstring Poses Entanglement Hazard

Recall Summary

 

Name of products: Gir����� Sugarfly Peacoats with a waist drawstring

 

Hazard: The coats have a drawstring tie sewn into the side seam at the waist that could become snagged or caught in small spaces or vehicle doors, posing significant entanglement hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines about drawstrings in children's upper outerwear. In 1997, those guidelines were incorporated into a voluntary standard. Then, in July 2011, based on the guidelines and voluntary standard, CPSC issued a federal regulation. CPSC's actions demonstrate a commitment to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on neck and waist drawstrings in upper outerwear, such as jackets and sweatshirts.

Description: This recall involves girl��������Sugarfl���� brand peacoat. The double breasted wool and polyester garment comes with a waist drawstring sewn into the outside seam of the garment. The coats come in three different colors; solid black, charcoal plaid and purple plaid. The coats were sold in girls��� sizes S (7-8), M (10-12), L (14), and XL (16). Style number KEM236 is located on the label found inside on the side seam of the garment. ���Sugarf����� is printed on a label sewn into the neck of the coat.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

 

Remedy: Consumers should immediately detach the tie from the side seams of the coat to eliminate the hazard, or return the coat to the place of purchase for a full refund.

 

Sold at: Nordstrom Rack nationwide from October 2010 through November 2010 and on-line at www.Zulily.com from September 2013 through November 2013 for about $40.

Ariens Recalls Snow Throwers and Power Brushes Due to Amputation and Laceration Hazards

Name of Product: Ariens and Sno-Tek Snow Throwers, Ariens and Gravely All-Season Power Brushes

Hazard: A drive pulley can crack while in use and cause the auger/impeller or brush to continue to rotate after the clutch lever is disengaged. This poses amputation and laceration hazards to consumers.

 

Remedy: Repair

Description: This recall involves Ariens and Sno-Tek brand snow throwers and Ariens and Gravely brand power brushes. Ariens Compact and Compack Track Snow-Thro snow throwers included in the recall are orange and 22- to 24-inches wide. Sno-Tek model snow throwers included in the recall are black and 20- to 28-inches wide. Power brushes included in the recall are Ariens and Gravely model PB-28 All Season Brush and Ariens 28-inch brush CE. The Ariens power brush was sold in orange and the Gravely in red. The snow throwers and power brushes have the Ariens, Sno-Tek or Gravely brand name printed on the product. For all recalled units, model and serial numbers are printed on a white label affixed to the lower rear of the product, near the wheel. Model and serial numbers included in the recall are:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snow throwers and brushes and contact Ariens Company for a free repair. Consumers should remember to never put their hands into the discharge chute.

 

Sold by: Home Depot stores and other authorized Ariens dealers nationwide from January 2014 to February 2014 for between $500 and $2,200.

Felt Bicycles Recalls Triathlon Bicycles Due to Risk of Injury

Recall Summary

 

Name of Product: 2008 Felt S22 and S32 Triathlon Bicycles and 2010 Felt S32, B12, B14 and B16 Triathlon Bicycles.

 

Hazard: The steer tube on the bicycle fork can break and cause the rider to lose control, posing a risk of injury.

 

Remedy: Replacement

Recall Details

 

Units: About 3,300 (2,100 additional units with the same steer tube were previously recalled in June 2010) in U.S. and about 190 in Canada

 

Description: This recall includes all 2008 Felt S22 and S32 triathlon bicycles, and 2010 S32, B12, B14 and B16 triathlon bicycles. The bicycles have aluminum frames with carbon fiber forks and aluminum steer tubes. The Felt logo is on the seat, frame and tires. The model number is printed on the frame, next to the Felt logo. The 2008 S22 model was sold in gloss white and the 2008 S32 was sold in gloss red. The 2010 S32 model was sold in gloss black, the 2010 B12 was sold in gloss white, the 2010 B14 was sold in gloss pewter and the 2010 B16 was sold in matte black.

 

Incidents/Injuries: Felt Bicycles has received 18 reports of the bicycle forks breaking, including five reports of minor injuries.

 

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact their local Felt Bicycles dealer for a free inspection and steer tube replacement.

 

Sold by: Bicycle specialty stores nationwide from October 2007 through February 2014 for between $1,500 and $3,000.
