Cabela’s Recalls Electronic Jerky Blaster Due to Fire Hazard

 

WASHINGTON D.C. - Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

 

Recall Summary

 

Name of product: Electronic Jerky Blaster

 

Hazard: The battery charger adapter can overcharge causing the Electronic Jerky Blaster’s battery and battery charger adapter to overheat.

 

Remedy: Refund

Recall Details

 

Units: About 600

 

Description:  This recall involves Cabela’s Electronic Jerky Blaster, which resembles a caulking gun. The product has a black handle, a gold-toned 15” tube that holds the meat with “Cabela’s Power Jerky” written on it and interchangeable tip at the end. The hand-held, battery powered appliance is used for making jerky sticks or strips. It was sold as a set with interchangeable tips and cleaning brushes. The recalled item number IK-540848 can be found underneath the barcode on the cardboard packaging that comes with the product and on the front of the instruction manual.

 

Incidents/Injuries: There has been one report of the battery and the battery charger overheating.  There are no reports of injury.

 

Remedy:  Consumers should stop using the recalled Electronic Jerky Blaster and contact Cabela’s for a full refund.

 

Sold exclusively at: Cabela’s nationwide from August 2013 through March 2014 for about $150.

Dimension Industries Recalls Outdoor Dining Chairs Due to Fall Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Costco

Recall Summary

 

Name of product: Fairview 7-Piece Patio Woven Dining Set

 

Hazard:  The legs of the chairs can bend and break, posing a fall hazard to the user.

 

Remedy: Refund

Recall Details

 

Units: About 6,700

 

Description: The recall includes the chairs sold with the Fairview 7-piece woven patio dining set. The set includes an 80” long by 42” wide by 29” high rectangular table with a tan with white border porcelain tile table top and black metal framed base and six chairs. The chairs have a black metal frame with brown woven wicker seats and seatbacks. The chairs measure 24” wide by 27” deep by 40” high. “7 piece Woven Dining Set” and “Imported by Costco Wholesale” is printed on the product packaging. The item number is printed on the instructions sold with the set and reads “ITM./ART. 966630.”

 

Incidents/Injuries: Dimension has received three reports of the chair legs bending or breaking and causing falls, including one consumer who bumped his head when falling.

 

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact the firm for instructions on receiving a full refund for the set. Costco has contacted its customers directly.

 

Sold exclusively at: Costco Wholesale stores nationwide from January 2014 to March 2014 for about $1,300 per set.
