Paramount Recalls Trident Ultraviolet Sanitation Systems for Pools Due to Fire Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Recall Summary
Name of Product: Paramount Trident Series 2 (UV II) Ultraviolet Sanitation Systems for pools
Hazard: Electrical arcing can cause the units to catch fire, posing a fire hazard.
Remedy: Replace

Recall Details
Units: About 960
Description: This recall involves all Paramount Trident Series 2 (UV II) ultraviolet sanitation systems. The sanitation systems are a gray tube that stands 32 inches high by 11 inches in diameter. They are plumbed into the pool’s water circulation pipes and plugged in or hard-wired into an electrical system. The pool’s water runs through the unit and is sanitized by ultraviolet lamps. This is a secondary sanitation system used in conjunction with chemical sanitizers such as chlorine or bromine. “Trident UV II” or “Series 2 Trident Ultraviolet Corporation UV Sanitation System” is printed on a black label on the front of the units. In addition, a silver sticker on the units has the following wording “Paramount Series 2 Ultraviolet Pool Sanitizer System,” “Trident Series 2 Ultraviolet Water Treatment System” or “Trident Ultra UV Series 2 Water Treatment System” and a date code of 9/9/2013 or later. Some date codes consist of a series of letters. Consumers with letters in the date code need to go to www.1paramount.com to determine if their unit is included in the recall.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported
Remedy: Consumers should immediately unplug the units from the outlet, or if hard-wired, the power source should be disconnected or turned off at the circuit breaker. Contact Paramount for a free replacement unit and free installation.
Sold at: Pool companies from September 2013 through January 2014 for between $600 and $750.

Avon Recalls Ergonomic Eyelash Curler Due to Eye Injury Hazard

Name of Product: Ergonomic Eyelash Curler
Hazard: The eyelash curler can break, exposing a metal pin, which poses an eye injury hazard to consumers.
Remedy: Replace, Refund

Units: About 478,000 in the United States and 41,795 in Canada
Description: This recall involves an Avon Ergonomic Eyelash Curler which is silver with black ergonomic finger grips. The word Avon is engraved in the silver upper lash curling bar. The recalled curler has the Avon model number F3093441 which can be found on the product’s box.
Incidents/Injuries: Avon has received 24 reports of the Ergonomic Eyelash Curler breaking, including six reports of the spring breaking. These 24 incidents include 13 reports of injury, including three for which the consumer received medical attention.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Ergonomic Eyelash Curler and return it to Avon in exchange for either a refund or a Mega Effects Mascara.
Sold by: Independent Avon sales representatives or online at www.avon.com from January 2007 through April 2014 for about $5.

Misty Mate Recalls Hand-Held Personal Misters Due to Risk of Laceration; Sold Exclusively at Hibbet Sports

Recall Summary
Name of Product: Misty 2.5 High Pressure Personal Misters
Hazard: The mister can shatter during use, posing a risk of laceration to the consumer.
Remedy: Refund

Recall Details
Units: About 9,000
Description: This recall involves Misty Mate 2.5 ounce high pressure personal misters. The air misters are approximately 8 inches tall and are designed to spray a mist of water for personal cooling. They have a clear plastic cylinder to hold water, blue base and top and a nylon carrying strap attached to the top. The cylinder measures between 1.25- and 1.5-inches in diameter. A horizontal line with the word “fill” is printed on the cylinder.
Incidents/Injuries: Misty Mate has received two reports of incidents involving shattered personal misters, including a report of minor lacerations.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled personal mister and return it to Misty Mate for a refund.
Sold exclusively at: Hibbet Sports stores nationwide from May 2013 through July 2013 for about $8.
