  URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 695 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 240 PM MDT WED OCT 6 2010  THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF          WESTERN COLORADO  EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 240 PM UNTIL 900 PM MDT.  HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.  THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 30 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 75 MILES NORTH OF GRAND JUNCTION COLORADO TO 20 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF CORTEZ COLORADO. REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.  OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 694...  DISCUSSION...LARGE SCALE FORCING WILL SPREAD INTO WRN CO DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS AS UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH APPROACHES AREA. TEMPERATURES HAVE WARMED INTO THE MID/UPPER 70S AND WITH DEWPOINTS HOLDING IN THE MID 40S...MLCAPES ARE BETWEEN 500-1000 J/KG. EFFECTIVE DEEP LAYER SHEAR AT 40-50 KT WILL SUPPORT SUPERCELLS/SMALL BOWS WITH A THREAT FOR SEVERE HAIL AND WIND DAMAGE.  AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500.
