PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 0753 PM CST MON NOV 29 2010 ...THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...POTENTIALLY STRONG...AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE LA...MS AND WRN AL THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT... A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHWARD ACROSS THE AREA BEHIND A WARM FRONT. LIFT WITH A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL CONTINUE THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH MORNING. STRONG WIND SHEAR PROFILES WILL REMAIN FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADOES AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. STORMS WILL BE MOVING NORTHEASTWARD AT 45-55 MPH. WHILE OVERALL SEVERE THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE WIDESPREAD...THE POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT TORNADO AFTER DARK WARRANTS HEIGHTENED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. TORNADOES DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR CAN BE PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THEY ARE USUALLY FAST-MOVING AND OBSCURED BY RAIN AND DARKNESS. THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE WESTERN ALABAMA CENTRAL AND EASTERN LOUISIANA MUCH OF MISSISSIPPI STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS TONIGHT.Read more
