CDC Focus on Spanish Social Media

Spanish FB
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has historically offered health information for the Spanish audience through the CDC en Español website. In order to reach a broader audience, Facebook and Twitter profiles were launched in early 2011. Since their inception, the number of fans and followers has continued to increase, as well as the type of health topics shared. Along with Features, Vital Signs and outbreak information, CDC's Spanish social media channels have been utilized to promote the work of other federal agencies such as AHRQ's campaign featuring a vidoenovela series on diabetes awareness, USA.gov's Help for Difficult Financial Times and National HIV Testing campaigns. In order to increase engagement with followers, a weekly survey has been conducted to gather information on fan's interest in cancer information, resources and their interest in cancer information on CDC en Español.
Help us promote these social media channels to your public health partners to ensure that important health and safety information is made available to the Spanish audience.
