  URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 669 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 505 PM EDT THU SEP 16 2010  THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF          SOUTHEAST OHIO        FAR NORTHWEST WEST VIRGINIA  EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 505 PM UNTIL 900 PM EDT.  HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.  THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 35 STATUTE MILES EITHER SIDE OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF WHEELING WEST VIRGINIA TO 15 MILES SOUTHEAST OF ATHENS OHIO. REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.  OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 668...  DISCUSSION...SEVERE TSTMS /INCLUDING SUPERCELLS/ ONGOING OVER CNTRL OH ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE/DEVELOP EWD INTO ERN OH THIS EVENING.  A NARROW THERMAL/MOISTURE AXIS IS BEING MAINTAINED AHEAD OF THESE STORMS...AND GIVEN THE STRENGTHENING VERTICAL SHEAR /BASED ON ILN VWP/...ENVIRONMENT WILL REMAIN SUPPORTIVE OF ORGANIZED STORM MODES WITH THE THREAT FOR MAINLY HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.  STORMS SHOULD TEND TO WEAKEN LATER THIS EVENING AS STORMS EVENTUALLY MOVE E OF THE INSTABILITY AXIS.  AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES.
