  URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 34 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 505 PM EST MON FEB 28 2011  THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF          EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA        CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA        CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA  EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 505 PM UNTIL 1000 PM EST.  HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.  THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF RALEIGH NORTH CAROLINA TO 15 MILES WEST OF MACON GEORGIA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU4).  REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.  OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 33...  DISCUSSION...SQUALL LINE WILL CONTINUE MOVING EWD/SEWD ACROSS NC/SC/GA IMMEDIATELY IN ADVANCE OF THE COLD FRONT.  INSTABILITY GRADUALLY WEAKENS INTO THE CENTRAL CAROLINAS WHERE DEWPOINTS HAVE MIXED WELL DOWN INTO THE 50S...BUT STEEP LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND 50-60 KT FLOW WITHIN 2 KM OF THE GROUND WILL STILL SUPPORT A DAMAGING WIND THREAT FOR A FEW MORE HOURS.
