URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 40 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 315 PM CST SAT MAR 5 2011 THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF PARTS OF SOUTHERN ALABAMA WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE COASTAL WATERS EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 315 PM UNTIL 1000 PM CST. TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS. THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65 STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF MOBILE ALABAMA TO 30 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF MARIANNA FLORIDA. REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 39. WATCH NUMBER 39 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER 315 PM CST. WHILE THE AIR MASS AHEAD OF THE STORMS IS NOT QUITE AS UNSTABLE AS EARLIER OVER LA...SHEAR PROFILES REMAIN VERY FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELL POTENTIAL AS WELL AS MAINTAINING THE CURRENT SQUALL LINE.
