  URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 733 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 1215 PM EDT WED OCT 27 2010  THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF          DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA        DELAWARE        EASTERN MARYLAND        NORTH-CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA        SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY        EASTERN VIRGINIA        COASTAL WATERS  EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1215 PM UNTIL 800 PM EDT.  TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.  THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF SOUTH HILL VIRGINIA TO 30 MILES NORTHWEST OF ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY. REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.  OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 732...  DISCUSSION...TSTMS DEVELOPING ALONG SURFACE FRONT OVER N-CNTRL VA ARE EXPECTED TO EXPAND IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY THIS AFTERNOON AS WARM SECTOR AIR MASS CONTINUES TO DESTABILIZE.  REGIONAL VWP DATA INDICATE THE PRESENCE OF MODERATELY STRONG LOW AND DEEP LAYER-SHEAR WHICH SHOULD PERSIST THROUGH THE DIURNAL HEATING CYCLE OWING TO THE PRESENCE OF A 40 KT SWLY LLJ.  AS SUCH...SETUP WILL FAVOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIZED STORMS INCLUDING SUPERCELLS AND BOWING STRUCTURES WITH A RISK FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND A FEW TORNADOES.
