  URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 708 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 400 PM CDT SUN OCT 24 2010  THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF          EAST-CENTRAL ARKANSAS        FAR NORTHEAST LOUISIANA        NORTHERN AND WESTERN MISSISSIPPI  EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 400 PM UNTIL 1000 PM CDT.  HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.  THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF GREENVILLE MISSISSIPPI TO 30 MILES EAST OF OXFORD MISSISSIPPI. REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.  OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 707...  DISCUSSION...SEVERE TSTMS IN PROGRESS OVER SERN AR/NERN LA ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE/DEVELOP EWD INTO WW AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EVENING.  SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT CONSIDERABLE BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING HAS LED TO 20-25 F T/TD SPREADS WITH MLCAPE OF AROUND 1000 J/KG.  GIVEN THE PRESENCE OF 35-45 KT OF DEEP WLY SHEAR...SETUP WILL FAVOR LARGELY OUTFLOW-DOMINANT CONVECTIVE MODES WITH A RISK FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL INTO EARLY EVENING.  AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500.
