URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 717 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 150 PM EDT MON OCT 25 2010 THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 150 PM UNTIL 800 PM EDT. HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS. THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 35 STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF COLUMBUS GEORGIA TO 15 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF VIDALIA GEORGIA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. ENVIRONMENT IS MODERATELY UNSTABLE WITH 40-45 KT OF DEEP WLY SHEAR WHICH WILL SUPPORT UPDRAFT ROTATION. WHILE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS A TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT.
